Social Behaviour Dog Training is run by David Evans who has worked professionally with dogs and their owners for the last 35 years. He is a qualified Police Dog Handler and qualified Guide Dogs For The Blind Trainer.

David has worked for the RSPCA as Animal Home Manager and Local Authority encouraging responsible dog ownership. Was one of the founding members of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and has been called upon as an Expert Witness in court where dogs were the centre of controversy. Now helping people throughout Halifax, Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds and the whole of Yorkshire for training and behaviour problems.

David believes training methods should be based on rewards and motivation and should be fun for both owner and dog. No harsh methods of training are used and equipment such as check chains etc are not used at dog classes or on home visits.

Our 6 week Puppy Courses are suitable for puppies under 20 weeks of age at start of the course.

Junior / Dog Classes

Our 8 week Junior / Dog course is suitable for young adolescent and adult dogs – from 5 months of age onwards. Classes are held on Tuesday evenings 8 – 9 p.m. and Sunday mornings where there are two classes 9 -10 a.m. and 11 -12 a.m.

I’ve been attending classes for some time now and the magnificent change towards good dog behaviour is evident in all the dogs present. Training the owner to train the dog through a reward system, reaps benefits very quickly and the dogs are relaxed, but also the social aspect of seeing dogs of all shapes, sizes and breeds interacting happily is testament to the commitment of David Evans. Nothing better than seeing dogs share treats at the end of training without a grizzle or a push between them! Very happy dogs make for very happy owners.

As a dog owner for many years I decided to take my dog Olive, a mini labradoodle, to David’s puppy classes, mainly so that she could meet other puppies. I quickly realised that the classes were very worthwhile and extremely enjoyable so I continued with the junior dog class. I was amazed at the progress she made with help and advice from David plus practice at home. David really knows what he’s talking about. I would recommend his classes to any dog owner. Even experienced dog owners will learn something.
